Meet the Candidates – Whitby Optimist
Club Does It Again
The Whitby Optimist
Club hosted a Meet the Candidate Night at Henry St. H.S.
one week before the Big Day. All Whitby Candidates were assembled in the
cafeteria, each with their own table to be available to answer questions face
to face. The Optimists held their first Candidates night in 1997 and it has
been a great success as it was a great way to offer a level playing field to
all candidates, and the voters.

Halloween
Haunts provides safe trick or treating
Members of the club go to a lot of work to make sure
kids in the community have the opportunity to enjoy Halloween without the
risks of door to door knocking. With the aid of a fun house, lots of costumed
characters and plenty of refreshments, the kids and parents took advantage of
the Children’s safety village to collect candies and enjoy some
entertainment. (Picture right shows a
large group enjoying some magic.)
The event takes many hands to set up and lots of
volunteers to bring the activities alive. If you are interested in
volunteering to help next fall, our contact information is below.
